Redesign of the Dr Light showroom – Istanbul, Turkey

Dr Light develops and manufactures individual luminaires tailored to the specific applications of its customers, relying on components from its partner, OSRAM. It chooses OSRAM products because of their high quality, ease of installation, range of smart plug&play control solutions and, not least, the reliability of OSRAM’s sales and technical support services. In redesigning its Istanbul showroom, it focused above all on providing the convenience of modern control systems and the enormous freedom of design offered by flexible LED modules. Both could be ideally achieved with high-tech products from OSRAM. The lighting solutions also offered impressive energy efficiency – even though maximum energy savings was not a primary requirement.

Design and function

Among the luminaires visible in the showroom are narrow-beam spotlights equipped with OSRAM PrevaLED Coin modules and OTI DALI drivers. What visitors cannot see at first glance are the perfectly designed heat sinks for the OSRAM PrevaLED Coin 50 and 111 modules which make external cooling superfluous, thereby extending the luminaire design options. The DALI drivers support fully digital programming and stepless dimming between 100% and 1%.

Light in every form

One of the highlights in the Istanbul showroom is an impressive pendant luminaire. Its warm white light is produced by OSRAM LINEARlight FLEX modules (LF800S-G3-827) which precisely follow the curved shape of the luminaire and which combine high light output with contemporary efficiency. What makes the pendant luminaire really special, however, is the LUXeye DALI BT controller from OSRAM which enables the light to be conveniently controlled from a smartphone or tablet.

Human centric lighting

OSRAM LINEARlight FLEX modules (LF2000TW-G3-82765-04) also provide the basis for futuristic indirect wall lighting. With their dynamic color changing properties, ranging from warm white to cool white, they can simulate the changes in natural daylight throughout the day and therefore provide lighting that is in tune with the circadian rhythm of the human body.

Conference scenario

The showroom also demonstrates the situation in a conference room. Ceiling, pendant, shelf and wall luminaires can be conveniently remote controlled via DALIeco Control – with daylight and presence control also an option.

Pioneering technology and design

The Dr Light showroom in Istanbul is not only an interior design masterpiece, it also demonstrates what is currently feasible in office and home lighting – not least thanks to innovative OSRAM components. In recognition, it was rightly presented with the internationally renowned European Property Award in London for the “Best Retail Interior Project”.
